It's Autumn!

We went to the Autumn Vibes festival at the Royal Botanic Garden yesterday.
Time is hard to keep track of here. March is the beginning of autumn in Australia, and yet it seems like high summer to us - last week the temperatures were in the 80's. And we're waiting for it to cool down a bit, so we can do longer outings. The group in the background of this picture is playing tango music.
We were able to find a shady spot and saw:

Some dancers from Fiji.

Men doing Capoeira (a Brazilian art form which combines dance, rhythm, movement, and martial arts).

And Brazilian Samba Dancers.

Here's the view just to the side of the festival stage. It doesn't look like autumn, does it?
One of the terrific things about Sydney is that on Sundays you can buy a "Family Fun Fare" for the public transit. That means we can go on as many buses, trains, and ferries as we want to for $2.50 each.
So, after the performances we caught a ferry to Balmain.

The wake behind the boat can be fascinating.

We ate at a little restaurant where the fish is very fresh. You walk in, and it looks like a fish market with tables and chairs. Some people just buy raw fish and cook it at home. But it is absolutely delicious and an incredible deal. (Note the dogs. I think everyone who had a dog in Balmain walked by us while we were sitting there).

There's a playground right next to the ferry dock.

On the ferry ride back, Sylvia took this picture of the opera house:

And then we caught a train at our favorite train station:

Circular Quay (pronounced "key"). How's that for a view?
